Hi my name is Kirsty, I am a mum to two lovely boys, Matthew & Luke and a wife to my amazing husband Justin. I was born and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, where my parents and brother still live. I also met Justin there. We then moved to the UK and spent 9 years in London. We moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, in June 2010, and we absolutely love it and are here to stay!
Sew Pretty started when I noticed there were not many affordable online choices for fabric in New Zealand. I sat down with 2 A4 sheets of paper and drew up a business plan and fell more and more in love with the idea. Sewing is only a recent passion I have discovered, after my 2nd son Luke was born (1 1/2 years ago).
I love the challenge of making things for the first time and started listing some of my handmade items on Felt. I also listed some things on Etsy. It is there that I discovered the joy of making things with quality fabrics and this has increased my passion for wanting this to spread to the New Zealand handmade market. So www.sewpretty.co.nz was born, with a lot of slaving and learning by Justin.
